Milan has extended Rafael Leao's contract until 2028, as the player signed a four-year deal with the club. Previously, his contract was due to expire in June 2024. Leao was eager to remain with the team and declined offers from Real Madrid and Chelsea.

The Portugese star has signed the new contract, which will pay him €7m each year in addition to a signing bonus of €2m. Leao's release clause has also been raised from €150m to an undisclosed amount.

Leao's decision to remain with Milan was aided by the resolution of a dispute between Sporting CP and Lille. Lille had to pay a €22m fine to Sporting CP since Leao had left the club in 2018 without the club's approval.

Leao signed his new contract after Sporting CP received the €22m from Lille. While Leao recently joined his Milan teammates at their hotel, he is not expected to play in the upcoming Champions League semi-final against Inter.

While Sky Sport Italia has not confirmed Leao's new contract signing, the fact that his family members and lawyer are in Milan indicates that a decision will be made soon.
